Giovanni Gnocchi

Giovanni made his debut as soloist in a concert with Yo-Yo Ma, who said: “wonderfully talented, he will make a valuable contribution to music wherever he goes”.
 Solo engagements include performances under the baton of Gustavo Dudamel, Christopher Hogwood, Carlo Rizzi; at the Hong Kong Arts Festival, Wiener Konzerthaus, Mozart-Woche Salzburg.

Winner of the “Haydn” Competition of Vienna, Borletti-Buitoni Fellowship, laureate in Prague Spring Competition, Janigro Competition, Parkhouse Award at the Wigmore Hall, Giovanni counts among his chamber music partners Leonidas Kavakos, members of the Hagen Quartet, Roman Simovic, Jens- Peter Maintz, Wolfram Christ, Diemut Poppen, Jennifer Stumm, Pavel Gililov, Olli Mustonen, Alexander Lonquich, and Ilya Gringolts.

Giovanni was Solo-Cellist of Camerata Salzburg, Guest Principal in the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra and a member of the Lucerne Festival Orchestra under Claudio Abbado.

Since 2012, he holds the position of University Professor at the Universität Mozarteum.
